Two new albums drop from aphasein today - the A-album 'phace-maker' collects two of their concept EPs, and features their biggest and longest stompers to date; the B-album 'selected oddities volume 1' is exactly what it sounds like: a collection of real early songs from before the debut album, still pretty raw and strange (the title is both a reference to their early compilations and an obvious bite at AFX).

// Repeating Frank: Drifts_101

So the first 6 tracks of 'Drifts_1' are now up on the Repeating Frank YouTube channel. We suggest popping over and watching them in high quality. We've also started a Vimeo channel at vimeo.com/aphaseinrecords and will be adding 'Drifts_1+2' there as well.

'Drifts' is a series of instrumental jams done in new locations without our normal recording setup, just captured on a small camera as they happened, the only record. Music for spaces. Trainspotters may notice the naming and theme takes some influence from the NIN "Ghosts" album (though the first session and idea happened in December 2007, before "Ghosts" was even mentioned - another case for tapping into ideaspace.) // Anniversary Time!!1!%#$!!

So we're celebrating our official one-year anniversary of the label launch today! (Yes.) It's been a great year - we put out 26 official releases (3 singles, 4 EPs, 19 full albums); expanded the family to 9 groups; rolled out 6 websites; put a couple albums for sale on iTunes/Rhapsody/etc and a lot on Snocap; started up some YouTube channels; and put a good dent in the mountain of music we've been pilin' up.

And what are we doing to celebrate? Um, we got a blog (as you've obviously noticed.) Yeah, I know, pretty out-there, never-been-done, etc. Time we consolidated and join this 21st century. All news for our many groups, as well as the label, will now be funneled through this bad-boy, making updates so much easier for us, and everything much easier for you: searching, RSS subscription, embedded YouTube channel, Archive of past year's News, and direct links to all our Websites, Stores, MySpaces, and Download pages from one page. Yeah, I don't know why it took so long either, but we're ready now for Round Two.

The other news is we'll be rolling out a new double-album video series of Repeating Frank instrumental performances entitled 'Drifts_1 + 2', starting tomorrow the 8th. We've also got this month's pair of albums from aphasein dropping soon and a video series from Pete and Frank in the works. The future can't come soon enough.
